# Start-Up Procedure | How to Power ON the ALTA X Tether System

Before proceeding with the [Start-Up Procedure](https://xm2labs.gitbook.io/eon800-user-guide/freefly-altax-tether-eon800-xm2/startup-procedure-eon800-tgs), it's assumed the user has completed the EON800 [Installation Guide](https://xm2labs.gitbook.io/eon800-user-guide/freefly-altax-tether-eon800-xm2/installing-eon800-altax) and [Setup Guide](https://xm2labs.gitbook.io/eon800-user-guide/freefly-altax-tether-eon800-xm2/eon800-setup-guide-tethered-altax).

## **Step A: Power on the Tether Ground Station:**

#### **Instructions**

1. Power ON the [Generator](https://xm2labs.gitbook.io/eon800-user-guide/freefly-altax-tether-eon800-xm2/reference/eon800-altax-generator-specs).
2. Turn ON the EON800 **Tether Ground Station** (**TGS**) by PRESSING the *Power Button.*

## **Step B: Start-up the EON800 Tether Ground Station**

#### **Instructions**

1. After turning on the **TGS**, the S*tart-up Screen* will appear with an EON800 logo.
2. The *Start-up Screen* will display for 10 seconds, and then transitioning into the [*Manual Confirmation Screen*](#step-c-manual-confirmation-screen).
3. The *Start-up Screen* can be skipped by PRESSING the *Centre Function Key*.
4. The [BIOS Settings](https://xm2labs.gitbook.io/eon800-user-guide/freefly-altax-tether-eon800-xm2/reference/bios-settings) can be accessed and altered by simultaneously holding both the *Left* and *Right Function Keys* for 3 seconds.

## **Step C: Manual Confirmation Screen**&#x20;

#### **Instructions**

1. To confirm that you have read and understand the **Operator's Manual**, PRESS the *Right Function Key* and proceed to the [Warning and Drone Boot](#step-d-warning-and-drone-boot-prompt) prompt.

## **Step D: Warning and Drone Boot Prompt**

#### **Instructions**

1. Read and acknowledge warning: Improper operation of the EON800 Tether System may cause injury or death.
2. After acknowledging the warning, if you proceed, you will be prompted to initiate the Drone's Start-up Procedure.

## **Step E: Plug-in Drone Batteries to Boot Drone**

Be careful that the balance leads are plugged in in the correct orientation. Attempting to plug in the balance leads backwards could cause a short circuit and damage.&#x20;

Always plug in the balance leads before the main leads.

{% hint style="warning" %}
When plugging the main battery leads in, always plug the connectors all the way in swiftly. Leaving the connectors partially connected for too long can damage the antispark resistor built into the connector

If a spark, or cracking noise, occurs when plugging in the main battery leads, the anti spark on the battery connector is damaged. Replace this connector to avoid repeated sparks.

#### **Instructions**

1. Position yourself by the ALTA X.
2. Plug in the Drone Balance leads into the two balance connectors on the APU adapter plate.
3. PLUG the **Drone Batteries** into the two panel-mounted *XT-90 connectors* on the *APU adapter plate*. Plug them all the way in, swiftly.
4. Once the drone is connected to the Drone Batteries, the Drone will automatically *boot up*. Return to the **Tether Ground Station (TGS)**.

## **Step F: Initialize Drone Startup and Telemetry**

#### **Instructions**

1. Wait approximately 10 seconds for the drone to complete its boot process and telemetry startup.
2. Press and HOLD the Center Function Key on the **TGS** for 1 second.&#x20;

In case of any issues, the screen will show the reason for not entering standby mode, along with multiple pages accessible through the left and right function keys. These pages provide information on possible causes and fixes. ## **Step G: Standby Mode & Activating HV**

Warning: Ensure all persons are outside of the drone zone, are warned that the HV will be activated, and instructed to remain clear.

#### **Instructions**

1. The **TGS** will display the standby screen if no issues are detected
2. Flip UP the <mark style="color:red;">**RED HV Switch**</mark> to activate the high voltage power system. *Caution: Prior to activating the high voltage power system, ensure all safety protocols are followed*.
3. The *TGS Screen* will change to the *energized screen*. This screen displays current draw, voltage level, internal APU temperature, and current aircraft altitude.
4. The **TGS** is now supplying HV power to the aircraft, enabling you to launch the **ALTA X** and proceed with [Operating Procedures](https://xm2labs.gitbook.io/eon800-user-guide/freefly-altax-tether-eon800-xm2/eon800-altax-operating-procedure).
